INSTALLATION NOTES:
#1.  If your car utilizes a remote solenoid, and you wish to continue to use it, you will need a “BYPASS WIRE” installed on your new high torque starter. You can easily tell if you have a remote solenoid because there will only be one, heavy wire going to your old Lucas starter. This wire will "bypass" the solenoid on your new starter, and allow you to continue to use the original setup. 99% of customers opt for this setup.  The bypass wire can be purchased via the dropdown selection upon checkout.

#2. On some early MGB's (pre-1967), based on clearance issues, some starters will need to be clocked in such a way that the body of the starter will be in the way of one of the mounting holes.  For these customers, the solution is to remove the mounting plate and "preloading" the one mounting bolt.  The clearances to tighten this bolt are tight, but achievable.

#3.  Some "late" MGB's have a 3-wire hookup.  This 3rd wire is a direct line to the coil. The starter acts as a pass-through to provide extra juice to the coil on cold startups.  We accomodate those owners with a small screw terminal on the opposite side of the starter from the ignition terminal. (see pics).
